On This Day

One thing that I like about Facebook is that it has ON THIS DAY application. This shows you what you were doing on this day exactly in the past. Sometimes they pop up and I can remember the memory like it was yesterday. Sometimes I don't remember posting or writing the update at all. I do remember though after reading them a feeling of accomplishment and seeing where I was then to where I am today.
Relaxing on the beach

On this Day: April 26, 2009-   " Had a Very Relaxing Weekend!!"

I am assuming that I had a nice weekend. I am not sure why I thought it would be something to post for everyone to see. Maybe extra detail why it was relaxing...Did I get a massage? Was I able to just lay in my pajama's all day and cuddle with Tytus? Did I not have any work to do for college?...whatever the reason, I need another one of those.

On this Day April 26, 2011- " Work out or Lay Out...Hmmm decisions decisions"

Today there would be an easy choice, lay out will always win. Especially now that it is warmer and I
could probably blend into my white blanket. Better yet put me next to a pool or the ocean and I could lay out all day long.
Another favorite part of summer
is this one's birthday.

On this Day April 26, 2012- " Woo hoo Summer Break has begun!!"

Man college kids have it easy with summer break beginning in April! I know as a teacher near the end of April we are in serious countdown mode. We have one more month, that is 4 weeks, between us and summer. We have the countdown on our phones, our calendars at work, our calendars at home, even our family has the countdown on their calendars. Trust me if you were to ask a teacher today how many days until
summer break, they would be able to tell you to the exact minute.

On this Day April 26, 2013- " Well it is finally here, last day of student teaching!  I have been blessed to work with my two amazing mentor teachers, and the students. Graduation here I come!"

Dressing as a 100 year old lady
for the 100th day of school.
This memory is a major accomplishment for me. When I first went back to college I was going to be a nurse. I really didn't know what I wanted to do with my life and my mom had said that nursing was a great career choice. I had shadowed a couple of nurses and found that I really liked Labor and Delivery. I began the pre-requisites for the Nursing program. I struggled through the science courses and wasn't sure if nursing was the route I wanted to go. I had always wanted to work with kids or animals, and felt like I was going the nursing way to please my parents. When I applied to the program I was denied. Instead of feeling down and upset I was relieved. I remember telling my mom that I didn't get in and not feeling bad about it. That night we sat down and she asked what I truly wanted to be. I told her that I wanted to work with kids and a Teacher has always been a dream of mine. She told me then I should go for being a teacher, she wanted me to be happy and follow my heart. The next day I dropped the Nursing path and applied for the Teacher program. I didn't look back. Once I joined the Teacher Program I realized it was where I was supposed to be. I was passing all of my classes and enjoyed going to class each day. The semesters passed quickly and then it was
almost time to graduate. For my student teaching I taught 2nd and 4th grade ( I would end up teaching those as well when I became a teacher). I had the best mentor teachers that helped me carry lot's of wisdom with me into my own teaching. I would find myself going back to notes I had taken or lessons they had taught and incorporating them into my own curriculum. This day was a bittersweet day. I was sad to leave the school and these amazing teachers, but I was also excited about graduating and finally becoming a teacher and having my own class. I can't believe this was 5 years ago. If I could talk to myself back then I would say " You got this, You will be awesome!"

On this Day April 26, 2015- " Celebrating the Arrival of Baby Girl"

I was celebrating the arrival of two of my dear friends second child. They were there for me when I was going through the mess with Greg. They helped pull me out of it and showed me what a true loving and respectful relationship (marriage)  looks like.

On this Day April 26, 2017- " I was tagged in one of my friends post about her son getting ready to graduate high school."

Photography has been a hobby of mine for a few years now. I take pictures here and there and try to practice whenever I can. When one of my dearest friends (my second mom) asked me if I would do her son's graduation pictures I jumped at the offer. I was excited to do these pictures because it showed how far he had come. I met him when he was around the age of 7 if not earlier. I had watched him grow up, go through middle and high school. Watched him grow from a young boy to a respectful young man. This family has been there through the ups and downs of my life. They have watched me succeed and fail. I was happy to capture the memories of their youngest about to start on his journey in life.
