Spotlight Saturday
I have decided to have a fun theme for each day of the week. Spotlight Saturday will be about quotes that have inspired me, made me laugh, helped me grow, etc... Today I am starting off with one of my favorite quotes from a book. If you read my review of "Miss Maple's Seeds" by Eliza Wheeler, than you would notice the quote above.
" Take Care my Little ones for the word is big and you are small. But never forget that even the grandest of trees once had to grow up from the smallest of seeds."-Eliza Wheeler
I love this quote. I have used it in the classroom to help my students understand that they have to start somewhere. That they can't just assume they are going to be as good as someone without practice or studying. I show them this quote and tell them that they are the small seeds. With lots of water, nurturing and patience, they will then grow into the grand tree that they aspire to be. We then talk about ways that they can become better. Goals that they can set in order to reach the grand tree status. We also have talked about ways that they can help someone who is starting off as a small seed.
I used the top part of this quote in my daughter's nursery. I adore the simplicity of the words, "Take care my little ones for the world is big and you are small." Everyday that I walk into her nursery I am reminded that every day is a brand new day for her. Things that we take for granted each day are eye opening in her mind. Something as simple as the fan turning around she is fascinated by, or water coming out of the sink amazes her. We do need to take care of our little one's because one day they will be the grand trees.
